The introductory 1-day bladesmithing class led by experienced instructor Neels van den Berg offers a comprehensive hands-on experience suitable for all skill levels. Participants will learn essential techniques including forging, grinding, and heat-treating a knife blade using medium carbon spring steel. Safety protocols, tools, and equipment are covered, along with the basics of blade design. Students will take home a hand-forged knife, gaining insights into the art and science of bladesmithing from a skilled master in the field. The class provides a solid foundation in crafting knives and runs from 7:45am to before 6pm.
